About Us

our building Every West Bend Equipment product is designed and built to customer specifications. This individualized approach assures customers that their equipment is ideally suited to the task. Our line of heavy duty material handling equipment, including load inverters, mechanical upenders, hydraulic upenders,  transfer cars and lift table can be customized to fit the needs of our customers.

Rather than making a line of standard products and forcing the customer to choose one model or the other, each machine is designed and built for the specific application. Using advanced CAD systems, our engineers develop a design that meets the customer's requirements. Every customer receives an approval drawing showing the dimensions, performance specifications, and features of their equipment before the machine is built. This provides the customer with an extra level of assurance that the equipment they order will do the job efficiently and effectively.

Does your plant have special electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic standards? Are your maintenance technicians or plant engineers familiar with one particular brand of Programmable Logic Controllers? Do you have specific paint codes, component brands, or electrical ratings in your facility? West Bend can meet your specifications and requirements.

A Complete Product

West Bend recognizes that custom-built equipment needs product support. For that reason, our equipment comes with a service manual, warning labels, and guarding of moving parts. Moreover, our engineers are skilled and experienced at making sure the products they design are safe and reliable and that they conform to all applicable ANSI and OSHA safety standards. Products are designed for serviceability and reliability. We maintain complete service and parts information files, so that if your equipment requires maintenance we are ready to support you.

Quality is Built-in

West Bend Equipment uses only high-quality materials and components in its equipment. All of our welders are certified to AWS D1.1 Welding Code. Each machine is fully tested and inspected before shipment. Our electrical controls are built to meet the NEC code and NFPA 79.

History

In April of 2000, Bushman Equipment acquired selected assets of West Bend Equipment Company. West Bend, like Bushman, was a manufacturer of custom-designed, heavy-duty material handling equipment and already had a well-respected name within the steel and metal processing industries.

West Bend Equipment's history is similar to Bushman's in that the company dates back over half a century. West Bend was incorporated in 1913 as a manufacturer of dairy barn equipment. In 1919, the company added a line of factory trucks. During the depression, the barn equipment business was sold to allow greater focus on the company's expanding material handling products. By the 1950's, West Bend's main products included hydraulic lift tables, trailer trucks, portable elevators, stackers and pallet lifters.

During the next few decades, additional material handling products were developed, many fostered by the introduction of new technologies such as battery powered lifting and electronic controls. Many of the machines West Bend Equipment has built over the years have been in service 20 or more years. This has contributed to their reputation for reliability and rugged durability.
